oh teary me

apologies for the ridiculously long delay since my last post. have just experienced any modern teens worst nightmare. my hard drive crashed. not just a little oh i need to reboot and might lose what i hadn't saved crash. a total black screen of doom crash. and nothing can be recovered. i pretty much lost every record of my life from the last 2 years, (and snippets from the 4 before which had been transferred from my last laptop). obviously i had the most important things saved elsewhere. however thousands of photos and songs have disappeared into a technological black hole. needless to say it was a distressing experience. i also lost the program that i usually use to write these posts, so lets hope the format turns out alright.

on a positive note, this gives me a chance to start over on the disorder that was previously my hard drive. time to start fresh and super organised! and i've lost all the old things i was unnecessarily clinging on to, as i tend to be a bit of a hoarder. this song is dedicated to all the things we know we should let go but don't, and to new beginnings.

scrolling through pages and pages of cute english bands on @watchlistentell. love the accents and the wee introductions. super tough job choosing what to put on here today. feeling a lil upbeat, maybe a lil quirky. my searching however, led me back to a band i’m rather fond of. they’re none other than cloud control, an australian band, tribal sounds with some interesting lyrics and buzz-out videos form a surprisingly good sound.  enjoy

inspiration

is what i’m trying to surround myself in. it’s proving difficult in times of freezing temperatures and guilty times of not doing work. however due to being a little under the weather i did spend a few hours (most of the day) trolling round the internet. and to my delight i found youth lagoon. youth lagoon is the brainchild of trevor powers, and i adore it’s melancholic, soul sound. july, the song below, is so sad but so beautiful, and cannons is a bit more upbeat. i can’t decide which one my heart belongs to.

due to earthquakes and sickness and exams i haven’t posted in a while. but i feel terrible. and i promise i’ll post soon, just as soon as life regains a somewhat regular beat. don’t disappear.

i know i don’t usually post pictures, but i just cannot resist. stumbled upon this one here and my heart melted. perhaps with all my free time i will re-watch skins, from seasons 1-5, for the umpteenth time. perhaps just seasons 3 and 4 so i can stare wistfully at this beauty and of course delicious freddie. a girl can dream right?

renewed appreciation

for rock. after listening to a good portion of ‘top 500 rock songs’ on mtv classics at the gym. an old favourite popped up in the form of eskimo joe. yeah i know not really hard rock – but what can i say, it reflects my usual music taste. handed in too many essays on friday, and one exam to go, i’m kind of daunted by the long empty (and freezing cold) days of the next few weeks. i think there’s going to be a lot of ‘me’ time, but hopefully some fun adventures along the way. anyway – here you go, eskimo joe.

happiness will be the end of this week

the almost-end of assignments for another semester, how time flies.

but for the moment its redbull and long days in a dark room, agonising over the right word to put here or there.  for now a complete blank on everything i know about aristotle has led me here. here where i can write a whole load of gobbledegook and no one’s going to cover it in red pen and i don’t have to reference. well it’s fairly obvious i’ve been confined too long and inhaled far too much sugar. i should probably stop now before i come across completely crazy and one if you have me institutionalised. see now it’s getting ridiculous. this is why i post songs instead of short stories. although for a blog post this could be conceived of as more of a novel. someone should bring me green tea and an apple before my body starts shutting down due to consumption of every sugary fatty thing you could possibly think of. right. it’s definitely time for some fresh air.
